Irresistible Gluten-Free Parmesan Herb Crackers: Easy Recipe!

Easy Peasy Gluten-Free Parmesan Herb Crackers

Okay, let's get baking (or, well, *snacking*!) I'm so excited to share one of my go-to recipes with you today, especially if you're navigating the wonderful world of gluten-free eating. Believe me, I've been there – the land of bland, crumbly attempts at baked goods. But fear not! I've landed on something truly magical: Easy Peasy Gluten-Free Parmesan Herb Crackers.

Now, these crackers aren't just your average, throw-it-in-a-box type of snack. Oh no. They're the kind you make on a Saturday afternoon, the kind that make your kitchen smell like warm happiness, and the kind that vanish within hours because everyone you love suddenly develops an insatiable craving. My own journey to these perfect crackers was paved with a lot of "almost" moments – some too dry, some too…something. But finally, after what felt like a lifetime of gluten-free testing, these babies emerged victorious! And the best part? They're SO easy, you'll wonder why you ever bought those cardboard-tasting things at the store. I've even made these for a Super Bowl party and my die-hard "gluten-loving" friends devoured these with no idea they were even gluten-free – that's how good they are!

Instructions:

Step 1: Preheat & Prep: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2: The Dry Stuff: In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the gluten-free flour, parmesan cheese, dried herbs, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Add red pepper flakes (if using).
Step 3: The Wet Stuff: Add the olive oil and warm water to the bowl. Mix until a sticky dough forms.
Step 4: Rolling Time! Place the dough between two pieces of parchment paper. Roll it out thinly (1/8-inch). If the dough is sticky, add a light dusting of gluten-free flour.
Step 5: Cut It Out: Use a pizza cutter or sharp knife to cut the dough into cracker shapes.
Step 6: Bake 'Em Up: Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
Step 7: Cool Down: Cool completely on the baking sheet.
Step 8: Enjoy the Snack Time! Serve with dips or enjoy plain!

Notes: Store in an airtight container at room temperature. Feel free to customize your crackers with different herbs, cheeses, or seeds for a unique flavor!

Tips & Tricks for Snack-tastic Success

Cheese Lover's Dream: If you really love cheese, you could add a little extra (¼ cup more max) and also try using a different type of cheese like romano or asiago. Don't go overboard, though, as too much will make the crackers too greasy.
Herb Power: Feel free to experiment with different herbs. Freshly chopped rosemary or thyme added during mixing will definitely boost the flavor. Fresh is best! So if you have them on hand I would suggest using them more than the dried version if you can.
Garlic Goodness: If you're a garlic fiend like me (and by the looks of it – you probably are) you can use fresh minced garlic instead of the garlic powder, which you add during the mixing of the ingredients. Just ensure to use only 1 teaspoon and mince it finely.
Add some seeds: For added taste and crunch, you can add seeds like poppy seeds, sesame seeds, or chia seeds to the dough before baking. These are easily added in my experience during the mixing stage. 1-2 teaspoons of seeds adds that extra crunch and deliciousness.

Dipping Delights: These crackers are amazing on their own, but for a gourmet touch, try serving them with a homemade artichoke dip, a creamy pesto, or even a simple hummus. Whatever you choose, no one can deny a great selection that is also gluten-free.

Storage: Store your beautiful crackers in an airtight container at room temperature. They should last for about a week, that is if you don't eat them all in one day, which I also tend to do!

Product Recommendations

For evenly cooked goodies like these crackers you definitely need to have the right equipment. Having something like a Large Baking Mat is great when making the dish on your own or with a friend, or if you just need more surface to bake everything.

If you don't happen to have a great rolling pin, there are also great quality products online that can be delivered right to your door such as a Stainless Steel Rolling Pin. If you don't have these handy, I suggest you get some asap as they can enhance your kitchen experience overall.

It's also great to have a nonstick pizza cutter to be able to easily cut dough into shapes like what we are doing in this recipe. A non-stick pizza cutter is especially good when working with stickier doughs, as it can cut more smoothly and doesn't end up catching on the dough and pulling the shape out of whack.

Well, there you have it! I sincerely hope you enjoy making and savoring these crackers as much as I do. Let me know in the comments if you try them, and what you paired them with! Happy snacking!
